In a record-breaking run on 15 February 1935 on the motorway near Florence, Hans Stuck achieved a new record time of 320.267 km/h for the flying mile. The vehicle built on the Grand Prix chassis of the Auto Union Type B. The 16-cylinderV engine with 5 litres of displacement achieved 375 bhp at 4,800 rpm. The body made from aluminium had fully enclosed rear wheels to optimise aerodynamics, covered spoke rims and streamlined air outlets behind the free standing front wheels.
